Throughout the year, the residents have been busy knitting and sewing a delightful collection of items including unique toys, premmie baby beanies, crib blankets, and colourful quilts. Each piece is crafted with care and purpose, offering warmth and comfort to children and families facing challenging circumstances.
Meli, a trusted local organisation with deep roots in the Geelong and Barwon communities, provides vital support services to families, including early childhood education, family violence services, foster care, parenting support and counselling. Donations such as these make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in their programs.
“The residents look forward to this every year,” said a Sirovilla staff member. “It’s more than just knitting or quilting – it’s about connection, compassion, and knowing their skills are helping bring joy and comfort to children who need it most.”
The toy handover afternoon tea was a heartwarming occasion, bringing residents together to reflect on the difference they make as a community and to honour the spirit of giving that defines life at Sirovilla.
